Motuiti marae is situated in Himatangi, on State Highway 1 about 4 km north of Foxton and 35 km southwest of Palmerston North. Motuiti belongs to the hapū Ngāti Rākau of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga.
The whare tupuna is named Rakau-Paewai, the wharekai is named Kuia Kūpapa and the marae connects ancestrally to the Manawatū river and the waka Tainui.
