Paranui Pa is situated on SH1 2.2 Km south of the Palmerston North, Himatangi turn off. It belongs to the hapū Ngāti Tūranga of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga with affiliations also to Ngāti Tūwharetoa.
The whare tupuna is named Tūranga. The wharekai is named Hinewaha and the wharepuni is named Te Kohera. The wider land around Paranui is known as Himatangi. The marae connects ancestrally to the Tararua Pae Maunga, the awa Manawatū and the waka collective of Tainui.
