Te Tārai o Rāhiri marae is located in the Mangakahia River Valley in Pakōtai. It is associated with the hapū Ngāti Toki and Ngāti Horahia, who form part of Ngāpuhi.
The wharehui is called Nukutawhiti. The marae takes its name from the local maunga of Te Tārai o Rāhiri.
