Te Pou o Tainui marae (also referred to simply as Tainui marae) is located about 3 km northwest of Otaki township towards Otaki Beach. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Kapumanawawhiti of the Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga confederation.
The whare tupuna is named Kapumanawawhiti. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Tainui, the maunga Tararua and the awa Otaki.
