Otekura marae is located on Sister Annie Road near Ruatāhuna, 100 m east of the Whakatane River. The primary hapū are Kākahu-Tāpiki and Tamakaimoana of the iwi Ngāi Tūhoe.
The wharenui is called Te Ohaki; it was built in 1934. There is currently no wharekai. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Mataatua, to the maunga Manawaru and to the awa Ōhinemataroa.
