Te Henga marae is located on land backing onto the Lake Wainamu sand dunes at Te Henga (Bethells Beach) on Auckland’s West Coast. It is the only marae of Te Kawerau a Maki and for now remains undeveloped. In earlier times the main Te Kawerau a Maki kainga (settlement) was near the northern end of Te Henga marae.
