Waiparapara marae is located on Pewhairangi Street in Tokomaru Bay. The principal hapū is Te Whānau a Ruataupare ki Tokomaru of the iwi Ngāti Porou.
The wharenui is called Te Poho o Te Tikanga. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Horouta, the maunga Marotiri, and the awa Mangahauini.
